If you are reading the subject of biology, then you get to read about the cell in it. Today we will know about the Microbodies and Cell Organelles related to motion of the cell through this post. If this topic is also related to your morning, then you must read the notes provided because you will probably not see such simple notes elsewhere, so you must not see anywhere else, so prepare them with notes for great preparation in a short time.
Microbodies
– The cell contains various small micro-organisms which are related to cell metabolism. For example, peroxisomes, glyoxisomes, spherosomes
Peroxisome –
– Discovered – Beaufat & Birther
– In both plant and animal cells, related to ER.
– They are helpful in metabolic activity by producing H2O2 in the cells.
– It also aids in fat metabolism and respiration.
Glyoxysomes –
– Discovered – Beevers
– These are found in plant cells.
– Converts fat into carbohydrates during germination in oily seeds.
Spherosomes –
– Discovered by – Perner
– Found only in plant cells.
– Related to metabolism and respiration
(i) Cilia –
– Found on the surface of bacteria, in the cells of the respiratory tract.
– Their number varies from 200 to 400 per cell.
– They are small in size.
– Helps in the movement of the cell or its related material.
– It is made up of microtubules made up of ‘tubulin proteins’.
– In this, the arrangement of the micro-tubules is in the form of ‘9+2’.
(ii) Flagella –
– It is found in gametes of algae.
– Their number ranges from 1 to 4 per cell.
– They are big in size.
– Helps in the movement of the cell or its related material.
– It is made up of microtubules made up of ‘tubulin proteins’.
– In this, the arrangement of the micro-tubules is in the form of ‘9+2’.
1. Centrosome
– First seen in Von Banden.
– Description and discovery credits – to Boveri.
– It is not found in higher plants.
– It is found in animal cells and lower plants.
– This cell organelle can make its own copy.
– This centrosome forms the spindle at the time of cell division.
– In this the arrangement of microtubules is as ‘9+0’.
2. Vacuoles
– These are non-cytoplasmic structures, which are surrounded by a membranous structure called ‘tonoplast’ from the cytoplasm.
– The vacuole is large in plant cells and fungi while it is small in animal cells.
– These vacuoles can store food and other liquids.
– It is helpful in regulating the amount of water in the cell.
– It also helps in the excretion of excretory substances out of the cell along with lysosomes.
