Bangladesh headed BIMSTEC for the next two years

  • Bangladesh headed the regional group – Bay of Bengal for the next two years, headed by multi -regional technical and economic cooperation initiative (BIMSTEC). 
  • BIMSTEC consists of seven countries in the Bay region of Bengal – Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand.

China announced an additional tariff of 34 percent on American goods

  • China announced an additional tariff of 34 percent on American goods, the most serious growth in the trade war. 
  • In a deadlock between the top two economies in the world, China also announced control of the export of some rare earth elements and filed a complaint with the World Trade Organization.

Prime Minister Modi gifted Brass Dokra Peacock-Theme boat to Thai Prime Minister

  • Prime Minister Modi gifted Prime Minister Shinavatra with a tribal rider as a peacock boat of Dokra. 
  • This boat is a great example of traditional Indian metal craftsmanship generated from tribal communities of Chhattisgarh. 
  • Prime Minister Modi gifted a pair of cufflinks with a tiger -shaped cufflinks with Moti to the Thai Prime Minister’s wife, which had a mixture of tradition, artistry and modern sophistication.

Regional cooperation

  • Initially focus on trade, technology, energy, transport, tourism and fisheries (1997). 
  • It was expanded in 2008 to include agriculture, public health, poverty alleviation, anti-terrorism and climate change. 
  • For better efficiency, different member states led by new areas and sub-sectors were reorganized in 2021.

Sri Lanka honored Prime Minister Modi with his highest honor for world leaders

  • As a grand recognition of his efforts to strengthen India-Sri Lanka relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan, which is the highest civilian honor for the heads of the Island nation and the heads of the government.
  • The prestigious award was presented by Sri Lankan President Anuraa Kumara Disanayake. 
  • The award is a symbol of 22nd international recognition by a foreign country.

DRDO and Army conducted 4 successful tests of MR-SAM in Odisha

  • Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Indian Army today on the banks of Odisha, Dr. A.P.J. Four successful flight tests of the army version of the air -to -air missile from the middle -distance surface from Abdul Kalam Island.
  • The Ministry of Defense said that missiles stopped air goals and destroyed them, and hit them directly.

Cabinet approves “vibrant village program-II”

  • The Union Cabinet approved the vibrant village program-II (VVP-II) with a outlay of ₹ 6,839 crore.
  • The VVP-II will develop strategic villages with non-uplifted international land borders.
  • Its purpose is to improve life status, livelihood, internal security.
  • The scheme includes infrastructure, education, tourism and connectivity projects.
  • VVP-II promotes self-sufficient, lively border villages by FY 2028-29.

Government will develop monitoring models to detect Juneotic diseases

  • India is starting a scientific study to assess the Juneonotic spillover risks.
  • This study will be conducted in bird sanctuaries in Sikkim, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
  • It will adopt a forest health approach to monitor both humans and birds.
  • The objective of this project is to develop Juneotic disease monitoring models in real time.
  • This initiative reflects changes towards active public health preparations.

Axiom mission

  • Reference: Indian pilot Shubhanshu Shukla will ride on Axiom-4 mission

About Axiom Mission:

  • It is a private astronaut mission for ISS.
  • This mission uses the Spacex Dragon spacecraft, which is launched by the Falcon 9 rocket.

About Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla:

  • He is one of the 4 designated astronauts of the Gaganyaan Mission.
  • He has become the first Indian astronaut to visit ISS.

Indian Railways and DMRC signed a memorandum of understanding for AWPMS

  • Indian Railways signed a memorandum with DMRC to set up automated wheel profile measurement system (AWPMS).
  • It enables real-time, non-contact wheel profile monitoring using laser and cameras.
  • This system enhances security and efficiency by enabling corrective action on time.
  • DMRC will take over the purchase and installation of its four units.
  • This step modernize rail maintenance and promotes technical cooperation.

India’s foreign exchange reserves boom

  • India’s foreign exchange reserves rose $ 6.6 billion to $ 665.4 billion.
  • Forex assets rose by $ 6.15 billion to over $ 565 billion.
  • The gold reserves rose $ 519 million to $ 77.79 billion.
  • Special withdrawal rights fell by $ 65 million to $ 18.17 billion.
  • The RBI’s IMF position declined by $ 16 million to $ 4.41 billion.

Sex ratio at birth increased from 918 to 930

  • The sex ratio at birth increased from 918 (2014-15) to 930 (2023-24).
  • The credit for this progress goes to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana.
  • The scheme was launched in 2015 to address the declining child sex ratio.
  • It promotes mentality and behavior change towards girl empowerment.
  • Since 2014-15, girls’ enrollment in secondary school has increased from 75% to 78%.

Om Birla will lead the Indian delegation in the Inter-Sandary Association (IPU)

  • Om Birla will lead India delegation at 150th iPU assembly in Tashkent
  • He will address a general debate on ‘parliamentary action for social development and justice’
  • The delegation consists of senior MP and General Secretary of both Houses.
  • Indian MPs will participate in IPU sessions on global parliamentary issues
  • Birla will meet global counterparts and Indian community in Uzbekistan

7 years of Stand-up India

  • The Stand-up India scheme was launched on 5 April 2016 to assist SC, ST and women entrepreneurs.
  • By March 2025, the total sanctioned loan increased to ₹ 61,020.41 crore.
  • The number of SC beneficiaries increased to 46,248, including loans of ₹ 9,747.11 crore.
  • The number of ST beneficiaries increased to 15,228, of which ₹ 3,244.07 crore was approved.
  • Women entrepreneurs received ₹ 43,984.10 crore in 1.9 lakh accounts.
