James Anderson receives knighthood for his services to Cricket
- Former England fast bowler James Anderson has been awarded a knighthood for his services to Cricket as part of former British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s resignation honours list.
- Anderson is the only sportsperson who has made it to the list.
- The 42 year old English seamer retired from Test cricket last summer with 704 wickets, making him England’s all-time leading wicket-taker the format.
Tripura to organise Jatra Utsav
- Tripura is set to organise a Jatra Utsav with the aim of preserving its traditional art forms, culture, and heritage.
- Jatra or Jatrapala is a popular traditional Bengali folk theatre form, usually performed in open-air arenas, allowing interaction with the audience.
- Jatrapala is popular in West Bengal, Odisha, Assam, and Tripura.
- The word ‘Jatra’ means “journey,”.
Apricot Blossom Festival 2025 begins in Ladakh
- In Ladakh, the Apricot Blossom Festival 2025, also known as Chuli Mendoq, with a vibrant opening ceremony at Sanjaq village in Kargil.
- The celebration featured colourful cultural performances and active participation from local artists, students, and villagers.
- The event was organised by the Department of Tourism, Kargil.
Govt Sanctioned Rail Projects For Maharashtra
- The Union cabinet has recently approved the Gondia-Ballarshah railway line, a 240-kilometre strategic corridor with an investment of 4,819 crore rupees.
- The upcoming launch of Kavach 5.0, a state-of-the-art safety and signaling system tailored for the suburban section.
- Maharashtra CM Fadnavis also elaborated that Mumbai One Card, will soon be launched.
African Continent
- Africa is the world’s second-largest and second-most populous continent, encompassing 54 countries.
- It’s located primarily south of the equator, stretching from the Mediterranean Sea in the north to the Indian Ocean in the southeast.
- Africa is often called the “Mother Continent” due to the evidence suggesting that early humans evolved there.
Renowned Kathak dancer Kumudini Lakhia passes away
- Celebrated Kathak dancer and founder of the Kadamb Centre for Dance, Kumudini Lakhia, passed away in Ahmedabad.
- She was 95 years old.
- A recipient of the Padma Vibhushan on Republic Day 2025.
- Born in 1930, she became a celebrated Kathak dancer and choreographer who contributed to several critically acclaimed movies including Rekha-starrer Umrao Jaan.
Telangana’s green warrior Vanajeevi Ramaiah dies of heart attack
- Veteran green warrior and Padma Shri awardee Daripalli Ramaiah, fondly known as ‘Vanajeevi Ramaiah’, died of a heart attack.
- He was 85.
- Ramaiah received the Padma Shri award in 2017 for his contribution to extending tree cover in the region.
- Deeming tree planting as the ultimate purpose of his life, Ramaiah is said to have planted more than one crore trees over the past six decades.
Panama Canal
- Panama confirmed that the United States recognizes its sovereignty over the Panama Canal, despite recent tough rhetoric from the US.
- The two nations also announced new agreements aimed at deepening U.S. military training in Panama.
- It is an artificial waterway connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
- It was opened in 1914 by the U.S.
DRDO Successfully Tests Long-Range Glide Bomb ‘Gaurav’ from Su-30 MKI
- Defence Research and Development Organisation has successfully conducted the release trials of the Long-Range Glide Bomb Gaurav from the Su-30 MKI aircraft.
- Gaurav is a 1000-kilogram class glide bomb, designed and developed indigenously by Research Centre Imarat, Armament Research and Development Establishment and Integrated Test Range situated at Chandipur, Odisha.
Naval Commanders’ Conference 2025 Concludes
- The first edition of the biannual Naval Commanders’ Conference 2025 concluded today in New Delhi.
- The week-long apex-level conference was held in two phases at Karwar, Karnataka and New Delhi.
- The first phase of the conference at Karwar also coincided with the flag-off of IOS Sagar by the Defence Minister.

- Trick: Imagine someone throwing a red herring to lead you off track.
- Example: The detective didn’t fall for the red herring and kept following the main suspect.
Sikkim to Host International Youth Conclave
- In Sikkim, the International Youth Conclave is all set to kick off at Yanggang Helipad in the Namchi district.
- The three-day event will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
- Under the central theme, “Celebrating Sikkim’s 50 Years of Statehood”, the conclave will provide an in-depth look into the State’s tourism evolution, opportunities, and challenges.

- It includes diverse countries like China, India, Japan, and Russia. Asia features a wide range of cultures, languages, and religions.
- It also boasts varied geography—from vast deserts to tropical forests and the world’s highest mountains, including Mount Everest.
Considering ban on mining in area 10 km around Chittorgarh Fort
- The Rajasthan government informed the Supreme Court that it is “actively considering” a complete ban on mining activities up to 10 kilometres from the outer boundary of the historic Chittorgarh Fort.
- Chittorgarh Fort was constructed in the 7th century AD by Chitrangada Mori, a ruler of the Maurya dynasty of Rajasthan.
- It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013.
NITI Aayog Releases Report on Automotive Sector’s Global Competitivene
- NITI Aayog released a report titled “Automotive Industry: Powering India’s Participation in Global Value Chains”.
- The report offers an extensive analysis of India’s automotive sector.
- India has emerged as the fourth-largest global producer after China, USA and Japan, with an annual production of nearly six million vehicles.
