Mauritius : First African country to sign ISA’s CPF

  • Mauritius has become the first African country to sign a Country Partnership Framework (CPF) with the International Solar Alliance (ISA).
  • It is also the fourth country globally, after Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Cuba, to sign the CPF.
  • The CPF is a strategic initiative developed by ISA to facilitate long- and medium-term cooperation with its member countries.

Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) Baseline Report for FY 2022-23

  • Recently, the Ministry of Panchayati Raj has unveiled the first-ever Panchayat Advancement Index (PAI) Baseline Report for the fiscal year 2022–23.
  • Top Performers: Gujarat led with 346 Front Runner Panchayats, followed by Telangana with 270 Front Runners.
  • States like Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh recorded high numbers of Performer Panchayats.

India end ISSF World Cup Buenos Aires with 8 medals, including 4 gold

  • In shooting, Vijayveer Sidhu has become the first Indian to win gold in the men’s 25-meter rapid fire pistol event of the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
  • In the women’s category Suruchi Singh claimed her maiden gold in the 10-meter air pistol event.
  • India end ISSF World Cup Buenos Aires with 8 medals, including 4 gold.
  • 1st Position China with total 11 medals including 5 Gold.

PM Modi to visit Anandpur Dham in Ashoknagar district of MP

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in the Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh.
  • Anandpur Dham has been established for spiritual and philanthropic purposes.
  • Spanning 315 hectares, it houses a modern gaushala with over 500 cows.
  • The trust also runs agricultural activities under the Shri Anandpur Trust campus.

Sections 271 and 272 of the BNS

  • An FIR was registered against a restaurant owner in Noida under Section 271 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
  • Sections 269 and 270 of the Indian Penal Code, 1870, have been identically reproduced as Sections 271 and 272 of the BNS.
  • These punish acts that are “likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life”.
  • Both are bailable offences.

PM Modi visits Varanasi, launches projects worth Rs 3,880-crore

  • In Varanasi, PM Modi launched 44 projects worth Rs 3,880 crore, focusing on infrastructure, rural development, power supply, and urban beautification.
  • Notably, this will be Narendra Modi’s 50th visit to the holy city after becoming Prime Minister in 2014.

National Safe Motherhood Day : 11 April

  • National Safe Motherhood Day was established in 2003 by the White Ribbon Alliance India (WRAI).
  • The date marks the birth anniversary of Kasturba Gandhi, wife of Mahatma Gandhi, who dedicated her life to the welfare of women and children.
  • The theme for this year is “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.”

IPL 2025: Kohli becomes first batter to score 1000 boundaries

  • India’s star batter, Virat Kohli, etched his name deeper into the annals of the Indian Premier League (IPL), becoming the first player to smash 1000 boundaries in the tournament’s rich history.
  • With one more big knock, Kohli is poised to become only the second batter in T20 history to notch 100 half-centuries, trailing only David Warner, with 99 fifties to his name.

International Solar Alliance (ISA)

  • The alliance is also called International Agency for Solar Policy and Application (IASPA).
  • Formed: 30 Nov 2015, Paris during COP21.
  • HQ: Gurugram, India (National Institute of Solar Energy).
  • Purpose: Promote solar energy, clean energy, sustainability.
  • Members: 120+ UN nations incl. US, France, Japan.
  • Languages: English, French.
  • President: India.

Volatility Index (VIX)

  • Recently, The India Volatility Index surged over 65% to 22.8, marking its highest single-day spike ever, indicating heightened risk and uncertainty in the market.
  • The term “VIX” is a trademark owned by the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE).
  • It measures the market’s expectation of volatility over the near term.
  • It is calculated as annualized volatility, expressed as a percentage.

DP World Breaks Ground on Bharat Mart Trade Hub in Dubai

  • Dubai DP World has officially commenced construction on Bharat Mart, an ambitious global marketplace in Dubai designed to connect Indian businesses with international markets.
  • Set to open by the end of 2026, Bharat Mart represents a significant advancement in trade infrastructure between India and the UAE.
  • Strategically located in Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA).

A Second Bite At The Cherry

  • Meaning: A second chance to do something (कुछ करने का दूसरा अवसर)
  • Trick: Picture someone taking another bite of a cherry, symbolizing a second chance.

National Pet Day : 11 April

  • National Pet Day was established in 2006 by Colleen Paige, an ardent animal welfare advocate, to honour the unconditional love pets bring into our lives.
  • Beyond celebration, the day carries a meaningful purpose—to raise awareness about the importance of pet adoption and address the ongoing issue of animal homelessness.

Brahma Kumaris

  • The Brahma Kumaris is a spiritual movement that originated in Hyderabad, Sindh, Pakistan during the 1930s.
  • They were initially known as Om Mandali, as the members would together chant Om.
