Andhra Pradesh: India’s first Transmedia Entertainment City
- The Andhra Pradesh State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with leading company Creativeland Asia Private Limited to develop the first “Transmedia Entertainment City” in the state.
- The city, which will be called “Creator Land”, will be home to cutting-edge facilities for cinema, gaming, advertising, virtual production and technology-based storytelling.
India cuts off water flow to Pakistan from Baglihar Dam
- In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, India has stanched the flow of water through the Baglihar Dam on the Chenab River.
- India is also planning similar measures at the Kishanganga Dam on the Jhelum River.
- The hydroelectric dams Baglihar in Ramban district in Jammu division and Kishanganga in north Kashmir offer India the ability to regulate the timing of water releases.
Black Hole Bomb
- Researchers have created the first laboratory analog of the ‘black hole bomb’, a theoretical concept developed by physicists in the 1970s.
- It is a theoretical mechanism where rotational energy of a spinning black hole is extracted and amplified.
- Based on Penrose process (1971), particles in the ergosphere of a rotating black hole can gain energy through frame-dragging.
Yoga practitioner Baba Sivanand passes away in Varanasi
- Yoga practitioner, a Padma Shri awardee (2022), Baba Sivanand passed away in Varanasi.
- He was 128 years old.
- A resident of Kashi (Varanasi), Baba Sivanand was known for his disciplined lifestyle centred around yoga, meditation, and spiritual practice.
India: 1st country in world to develop genome-edited rice varieties
- India has become the first country in the world to develop genome-edited rice varieties.
- Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan launched the first two genome-edited rice varieties developed by ICAR institutions.
- The first rice variety named DRR Dhan 100 Kamala has been derived from Samba Mahsuri.
- The second variety, named Pusa DST Rice 1.
Madhya Pradesh Launches Film Tourism and AVGC XR Policies
- A high-profile breakout session titled “Digital Dreams & Cinematic Visions: Madhya Pradesh as the Next Creative Hub” was held at Waves 2025.
- Renowned producer and director Ekta Kapoor officially launched the Film Tourism Policy 2025 of the Madhya Pradesh government.
- The session also witnessed the launch of the AVGC XR Policy 2025 and the Second Phase of the Madhya Pradesh Film Cell Portal.
FM Sitharaman leads Indian delegation at ADB’s 58th Annual Meeting
- The 58th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) began in Milan, Italy.
- Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is leading the Indian delegation at the four-day event.
- She will also hold bilateral meetings with the finance ministers of Italy, Japan, and Bhutan.
Supreme Court Slams UP PSC For Giving Ambiguous Answers
- The Supreme Court has ordered the Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) to re-evaluate the answer sheets for the 2021–2022 Revenue Lekhpal examination, citing ambiguity in certain questions and answer keys that affected the outcomes for over 8,000 candidates competing for 8,085 vacancies.
DRDO: Maiden flight-trials of Stratospheric Airship Platform
- The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully carried out maiden flight-trials of its Stratospheric Airship Platform from Sheopur Trial site at Madhya Pradesh.
- Developed by Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment at Agra in Uttar Pradesh, the airship was launched carrying an instrumental payload to an altitude of around 17 kilometers.
Budokan International Karate Championship : Anarghya Panchawatkar
- Anarghya Abhishek Panchawatkar of Gurugram has clinched the gold medal at the 11th Budokan International Karate Championship held in Dubai.
- Representing India under the banner of the Sports Shitokai Karate Federation.
- The tournament saw participation from over 900 athletes representing 17 countries, competing across various age groups.
