- April 28th: World Day for Safety and Health at Work is to encourage workplace safety and guarantee.
- The International Labour Organization started the day in 2003 to raise awareness of the urgent need for workplace safety regulations.
- The theme for World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2025 is “Revolutionising Health and Safety: The Role of AI and Digitalisation at Work.”
Hardeep Singh Puri & Delhi CM launch Ayushman Vay Vandana Cards
- Hardeep Singh Puri, along with Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, launched the Ayushman Vay Vandana Cards for Delhiites in New Delhi.
- The scheme provides 5 lakh rupees free health cover to all senior citizens aged 70 years and above, irrespective of their socio-economic status
- The BJP government said it would enrol at least 1 lakh beneficiaries under the insurance scheme within 30 days
Madhusudan Sai Honored with Fiji’s Highest Recognition
- Madhusudan Sai’s dedication to serving humanity was acknowledged by Fiji.
- He was conferred with the ‘Companion of the Order of Fiji’, the country’s highest honor.
- His key initiatives, especially the establishment of the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Children’s Hospital, have greatly impacted healthcare and social welfare in Fiji.
S. Pattabhiraman, Former Vice Chief of Army Staff, Passes Away
- Former Vice Chief of Army Staff and Colonel Commandant of the Bombay Sappers, Lt. Gen. S Pattabhiraman, passed away yesterday at the Military Hospital, Wellington in the Nilgiris District.
- He was admitted for breathing difficulties for the past few days. His last rites were conducted with full military honours today.
NAI Acquires Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s Private Papers
- National Archives of India-NAI acquired the private paper collections of Former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in New Delhi.
- A formal signing ceremony was also arranged by the National Archives for the handover of the papers by the family of Mr Kalam.
- The National Archives of India is the custodian of the non-current records of the Government of India.
India considers allowing 49% foreign stakes in nuclear power plants
- India is considering allowing foreign companies to take up to a 49% stake in its nuclear power plants a major policy shift for one of the country’s most protected sectors.
- This initiative is part of a larger strategy to boost clean energy production, lessen dependence on coal, and achieve ambitious carbon emission reduction goals.
India dominates Asian Yogasana Sport Championship with record 83 gold
- India delivered a dominant performance at the Asian Yogasana Sport Championship, securing a record 83 gold medals to top the medal tally at the event in Delhi.
- The hosts also won three silver and one bronze medal to end with 87 medals, finishing well ahead of Japan, which claimed three gold, three silver and four bronze medals.
- Mongolia, Oman and Nepal rounded off the top five standings.

India signs deal with France to procure 26 Rafale Marine fighter Jets
- India signed a defence deal with France to procure 26 Rafale Marine fighter Jets.
- The deal was signed in New Delhi in the presence of officials from the Defence Ministry and the French government.
- Out of 26 Rafale Marine Jets, 22 will be single seater and four double seater and these will be designed and prepared as per the requirement of the Indian Navy.
