₹8,741 Cr Rail Project to Boost Connectivity in Chhattisgarh

  • The 5th and 6th new rail line projects between Kharsia, Naya Raipur and Parmalkasa will transform the entire railway connectivity in Chhattisgarh.
  • Rail project will provide direct connectivity to new areas such as Baloda Bazar and reduce congestion.
  • Under the project, 21 new railway stations, 48 bridges and 349 small bridges will be constructed.  

Padma Shri Ram Sahay Pandey, icon of Rai Folk dance, passes away at 92

  • Padma Shri Ram Sahay Pandey, a legendary figure in Rai folk dance, passed away at 92 after a prolonged illness.
  • He was awarded the Padma Shri in 2022 for his work in preserving and promoting Rai dance.
  • He also received the title ‘Nritya Shiromani’ and was appointed to the Tribal Folk Art Council by the Madhya Pradesh government. 

Semaglutide

  • A recent study found that oral semaglutide (Rybelsus) reduces the risk of heart attacks, strokes, and cardiovascular death by 14%.
  • Semaglutide is a GLP-1 receptor agonist (GLP-1RA) is to achieve a significant reduction in cardiovascular risk, was approved in 2021 for weight management in people with obesity and conditions like type 2 diabetes.

7th Poshan Pakhwada: Focus on Early Life Nutrition & Healthy Lifestyle

  • The Women and Child Development Ministry will celebrate the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada as part of the government’s ongoing commitment to addressing malnutrition.
  • Four Themes: These are a focus on the first one thousand days of life, popularisation of the beneficiary module of Poshan Tracker, management of malnutrition and a healthy lifestyle to address obesity in children.

Indigenous EV Wireless Chargers to Be Commercialised Soon

  • The secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, announced the signing of the transfer of technology and a MoU among industries for the commercialisation of technologies developed under the National Mission on Power Electronics Technology in New Delhi.
  • CDAC and VNIT Nagpur technology has been transferred to an Indian firm to develop commercially.

Union Minister C R Patil inaugurates Symposium on Dam Safety Act, 2021

  • Union Minister C R Patil on inaugurated the symposium on “Dam Safety Act, 2021: Towards Integrated Dam Safety Management” organized by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) under the Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation (DoWR, RD & GR), Ministry of Jal Shakti.
  • During the symposium, several key releases were made to advance dam safety management.

President Murmu honoured with Key to city Lisbon

  • President Droupadi Murmu was presented with the prestigious “Key of Honour” of Lisbon City in Portugal.
  • The symbolic gesture, presented by Lisbon Mayor Carlos Moedas at the historic Câmara Municipal de Lisboa, officially recognised her as an honorary citizen of the city.
  • The “Key to the City of Lisbon” is the highest honor bestowed by the city.

TN Government vs Governor: Supreme Court

  • The Supreme Court pronounced judgment on the long “silence” of Tamil Nadu Governor, spanning months and years, to the State’s Bills, culminating in his withholding assent and reference of at least 10 Bills to the President for consideration.
  • Supreme Court Bench noted that if the House passes the Bill again and presents it to the Governor, the “Governor shall not withhold assent”.

Defence Ministry Signs ₹2,385 Cr Deal with BEL for Mi-17 V5 EW Suites

  • The Ministry of Defence has inked a two thousand 385 crore rupee contract with Bharat Electronics Limited, Bengaluru, for electronic warfare suites and aircraft modification kits for Mi-17 V5 helicopters.
  • This state-of-the-art EW Suite will considerably enhance the operational survivability of the helicopters in hostile environments.

President Droupadi Murmu Holds Talks in Lisbon, Launches Stamp

  • President Droupadi Murmu held delegation-level talks with her Portuguese counterpart, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, in Lisbon.
  • India and Portugal have agreed to strengthen their partnership in the areas of trade, renewable energy, green hydrogen, IT, start-ups, innovation and skilled mobility.
  • They also agreed to cooperate in the fields of tourism, culture, education, pharmaceuticals and others.

Haryana to Implement Three-Language Formula in Classes 9 and 10

  • Haryana School Education Board, Bhiwani, has decided to implement the three-language formula in classes 9th and 10th in all affiliated government and non-government schools.
  • This decision will be applicable in class 9th from the academic session 2025-26 and in class 10th from 2026-27.
  • Under the National Education Policy-2020, students of classes 9 and 10 will have to study seven subjects.
